Packing can be a very tricky aspect of moving. When
doing your own packing, it is important to request materials
from your moving company prior to the move. Make sure items
that can be damaged easily are packed securely to ensure safe
transportation.
- Protect your employees from injury and your company from
a Workers Compensation claim by using the supplies provided
by your moving company. Do not over pack boxes so they
overflow or are too heavy for an employee to lift. Ask for
packing and lifting services if needed;
- When relocating the company's files, there are several
things that need to be considered:
* Do you need full
access immediately before, during and after your move? *
Is this an opportunity to reorganize your current filing
system? * Redistribute filing cabinets? * Will a
filer be assigned to reorganize the files before and after
the move?
- Will you repaint your file cabinets? If so, they should
be bolted and leveled beforehand for a neat appearance.
- Consideration for the library and its contents is also
something that must be looked into. Book bins can be an
alternate method of storing and transporting books and other
library contents. Bins provide full access to your books
immediately before, during and after your move.
