Tagging/ Marking

  1. Moving Labels

Obtain specific code assignments for the floors, rooms, numbers, etc. from the mover’s project manager (AKA foreman). Place your id code in large letters before tags are fastened to avoid smudging. Assorted colors are available for your tagging requirements. If items are not to be moved, or equipment and furniture are to be discarded, place “Do Not Move” labels on them. This will help eliminate unnecessary expense. Note that you should fold down one corner of the label before sticking on furniture or plastic crates so that they can be more easily removed without causing damage to the item.

  1. Special Types of Furniture

Certain types of furniture such as “L” desks and conference tables may need to be dismantled. You must be sure each part of that item has the same tag color and information to ensure no misunderstanding.

  • It is important to place coded tags in a uniform manner. The mover requires this uniformity to quickly and efficiently relocate your items into their new location.
  • Pressure sensitive arrows are used to point in which direction an object is to be placed in the new location. They are removable and are color coordinated with the moving labels. They may be applied to floors, walls, ceilings, etc.

After the Move

  1. Your first Concern

Your first concern and priority will be to get unpacked and return to a normal operating routine as quickly as possible. If your items are packed correctly and in an orderly fashion, this will help reduce the amount of time needed to get unpacked.

  1. After Unpacking

After completely unpacking all your items, you will need to dispose of the cartons. Break the cartons down and place them in an appropriate area for removal.

  1. Damage Claims
Movers exercise extreme care in handling all your items. However, some damage may occur throughout this process. Prior to establishing a claim, the employee, Supervisor or move consultant must be aware of the condition of the item before the move took place to recognize if damage occurred. If damage has resulted from the move, a report should be completed and given to the mover within three days.
